Wispr Flow is a system-wide voice dictation app. Instead of dictating into one editor, you speak into whatever text field has focus — email, Slack, a code editor, a browser form — and Flow writes out a polished version of what you said. It strips filler words (“um”, “uh”), handles false starts, and applies corrections you make mid-sentence, so “Friday, no wait, the following Monday” comes out as “Monday”. Wispr claims this makes writing about 4x faster than typing, comparing 220 words per minute spoken with 45 typed.

The product runs on Mac, Windows, iPhone and Android and supports more than 100 languages. It learns names and domain jargon, and a dictionary and snippets feature lets you expand short phrases into longer text. Wispr also offers Notetaker, a meeting-notes companion, and lists SOC 2 Type II compliance.

Pricing starts with a free tier for individuals that includes dictation in any app with limits. Pro costs $15 per user per month ($12 billed annually) and adds unlimited dictation, shared team dictionaries and snippets, and centralized billing. Growth, at $23-33 per user per month ($18-26 annually), adds SAML SSO, org-wide HIPAA enforcement with a signed BAA, and admin control over whether your team’s data is used for model training. Enterprise adds SCIM provisioning, audit logs, MDM deployment and custom contracts.

The trade-off against an open-source alternative is mostly about where your voice goes. Flow processes speech in the cloud, which is how it gets strong cleanup and formatting across devices, but it means sending audio and text to a third party — enough of a concern that its higher tiers sell controls over model training. Open-source dictation tools typically run speech recognition locally with models like Whisper, keeping audio on your machine and costing nothing per seat, in exchange for fewer platforms, more setup, and cleanup that depends on the local model you choose.
